Have you ever felt unnoticed? Insignificant? Looked over? Our world moves at a pace that is exhausting and demanding. It makes sense that we sometimes can’t keep up and seemingly get left in it’s wake. Keeping grades up, keeping the house cleaned up and keeping our chin up can be next to impossible. And when we fall behind it seems as if the world runs us over and tells us to move aside for those who have it all together. Could it be that everyone is doing life with no problems, burdens or hardships? Do we just not “get it” and are somehow lagging behind everyone else?
Here’s the truth: No one has a full grip on life. We need not be discouraged when it seems like we’re hanging on by our fingernails while others are living care free. Don’t believe the mirage of perfection from others’ social media posts and profile pictures. We all struggle and are in deep need of a Savior.
[1] O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens…[3] When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, [4] what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? – Psalm 8:1, 3-4
David tells us of the majesty of the Lord’s name at the beginning and end of this Psalm. The power, splendor and beauty found in His name are all breathtaking. It’s by His mighty name that we pass from death to life. What a name! It is a cause for us to pause, behold Him and wonder: Why? Because for all of God’s power and majesty He notices you and me. We are not even specks in this universe and yet He knows all our specs better than we know ourselves. As powerful as He is, He cares for us. He is mindful of us. He cares for His children and won’t let them go without His embrace. He cares so much that He has sent His Beloved Son to suffer and die. This is the demonstration of His love (Rom. 5:8) and care for us, His image bearers.
God’s mindfulness of us is truly remarkable. The Lord sees us, notices us and gazes at us intently with His all-consuming love. He created all things. The entirety of the heavens, the moon and stars are all the work of His fingers. His fingers. He needed no fork-lift or crane, only His fingers. Yet He is meticulously mindful of us. He cares about each and every bit of us. From the biggest, life-altering decision to the smallest detail, He is mindful.
Are we as mindful of God as He is of us?
When you feel as if the world is passing you by, God sees you right where you are. And He is mindful of any condition you may find yourself in. Find Him in those moments and rest in His presence.
